Read guide →Good preparation helps a transport team understand what is moving and how it should be handled. Before requesting a quote or pickup, collect the following details.
List the item type, number of pieces, approximate dimensions, and total weight. Flag anything fragile, unusually heavy, temperature sensitive, or difficult to stack. Ask the carrier about any restrictions before packing a special item.
Choose packaging that supports the item and protects its edges and surfaces. Fill empty space, close cartons securely, and use suitable protection for fragile goods. Labels should remain visible and attached throughout handling.
Share the pickup and delivery locations, contact names, phone numbers, preferred dates, and any site access instructions. Keep a copy of the agreed shipment details so both sides can check them at collection and delivery.
For packing requirements or a shipment-specific recommendation, confirm the details with Dragon Transport before dispatch.
Back to guides ↑The right option depends on more than distance. Consider how quickly the goods must arrive, their size and weight, where they need to go, and the handling involved at each end.
Air transport can be useful when timing is critical and the shipment meets the relevant size, packaging, and acceptance requirements. Collection, airport handling, and final delivery still need to be included in the plan.
Road transport may suit larger or less urgent loads, especially when the pickup and delivery points are reachable directly by vehicle. Route, vehicle type, loading equipment, and site access can affect the plan.
The quickest or most suitable option for a specific shipment should be confirmed with the transport team.
Back to guides ↑Temporary storage works best when every item can be identified, protected, and retrieved without guesswork. Plan these details before the goods arrive.
Prepare an inventory with item descriptions, quantities, package labels, and any identifying numbers. Take condition photos when appropriate, especially for items that may be collected in stages.
Share dimensions, weight, stacking limits, and whether a forklift or other equipment is needed. Ask how the goods will be kept separated and how access or collection is arranged.
Agree on an expected storage period, who can authorize release, and how much notice is needed for collection. Check any special handling requirements with the storage provider in advance.
Discuss suitability for valuable, regulated, perishable, or temperature-sensitive goods before booking storage.
